Storm Causes Water in Basement
A heavy rain storm overwhelmed a sump pump, allowing water to cover the floor of a basement in Wheaton, IL. With water covering the carpet and impacting the walls, SERVPRO of Wheaton / Glen Ellyn / Lisle was asked to help the residents of this home. The water was removed, and the mitigation and drying was underway. Carpet, padding and portions of the trim and walls were removed first. The walls were dried with only the trim removed, using punch holes behind where the trim usually sits. Dry air was able to enter behind the wall furnishing and the basement was dried and monitored over the next few days. When possible, walls are saved, with as little removal of existing materials as possible. The customer was very pleased that we didn’t have to remove and replace the walls, causing as little interruption as possible.
