Commercial Water Damage Response
Heavy rains and a power outage can lead to some serious problems. This commercial building has a large sump pump installed, able to handle heavy amounts of rain water. When the power was knocked out and the sump pump couldn’t work, there was nothing to prevent water from pouring into the building.
Water and mud fill the building
With the heavy rains and no sump pump the commercial building was quickly filled with water and mud. The warehouse took on water, but the front offices suffered the greatest, with water flowing into the basement and soaking several of the front office areas. SERVPRO of Wheaton / Glen Ellyn / Lisle was called, handling the immediate response to remove excess water, and tearing out damaged parts of the building, as well as drying all of the wet affected areas.
Drying the building and removing drywall and carpet
After the excess water and mud were removed crews began removing the bottom few feet of the drywall to expose the walls cavities for drying. Small dehumidifiers and air movers were placed throughout the building to dry walls and wood framing. The floor air vents were also cleaned after taking on water and mud during the flooding. Lastly, the customer agreed to not try to save the carpet, which was ultimately removed. The building is now dry and awaiting renovation.
